The Oceanic Dota Cup expands tournament, increases prizepool

The Oceanic Dota Cup expands tournament, increases prizepool

Silicon Sports are very happy to announce today a new structure for the Oceanic Dota Cup which has been successfully running since the beginning of the year.

Currently, we have been running the weekly cups as standalone events. Our cups have always been designed with the purpose of promoting a stable and competitive scene in the Oceanic region, and the steps we are taking today are in line with that vision. We’ve also addressed a number of issues that have arisen throughout the year with our current cups.

The new structure will now be a month long event, running over four consecutive Sundays. The first 3 weeks will run roughly the same as they do now, with $50 going to first place, but placings will earn you points into the end of month final. Week 4 will take the top 8 teams and put them into a showdown to take out a first place prize of $200. Here’s a little breakdown of the information.

Weeks 1-3 – Qualifiers

BO1 single elimination bracket going into a BO3 grand final.

First Place: $50 and direct placement into Week 4.
* First place winner cannot play in any further weeks until the Week 4 final.

Second Place (Grand Final Loser): 4 points
Third/Fourth Place (Semi-Final Loser): 2 points
Fifth/Sixth Place (Quarter-Final Loser): 1 point

Week 4 – Grand Final

First Place winners of Weeks 1-3, plus the top 5 point holders from that time.
* In the case of ties for points, priority is given to those who entered the most weeks, if still tied a coin flip will determine which team advances.

BO3 single elimination bracket

First Place: $200

Sign ups will now be completed via the Silicon Sports website, and sign ups open immediately for Week 1 of our newly structured tournament via this page for Week 1.

Dates for the first cup

All times in AEST

Week 1 – Sunday 25th August 2pm
Week 2 – Sunday 1st September 2pm
Week 3 – Sunday 8th September 2pm
Week 4 – Sunday 15th September 2pm

We are really excited about these changes and hope that you are as well!

As always, we are constantly looking for broadcasting teams to work with, feel free to contact us if you wish to discuss it further.

Hey I was just wondering if you could host one event on a saturday every now and then. Me and my mates have church on sundays but would really like to play in an oceanic tournament.
