HK eSports Tournament

Team Silicon Sports’ Captain, Mark ‘SLCN.Petrify’ Fittipaldi has made it through to the top four of the Hong Kong eSports Tournament SEA qualifiers without dropping a single map! The winner of this qualifier will be flown to Hong Kong to compete against seven other qualifiers from around the world and for the US$13,000 prizepool.

The first semi final will see Nv.Rossi and fray`Petraeus battle it out in a Terran v Zerg match up. Mark will face xGKing`KingKong, who he has had success over in recent meetings, in the second semi final on Wednesday. Petrify has also had good results against Rossi in the past and no one can ignore the rivalry between Petrify and Petraeus for the title of ‘The Real Pet’ (which Mark currently holds).

Silicon Sports’ StoicWilly also competed in the HKeST SEA qualifiers as well, defeating NiM 2-1 in the opening round but then falling to Nv.mOOnGLaDe 0-2 in the next round.

AVCon 2013

We also have a video recap of Team Silicon Sports invading Adelaide at AVCon. Whilst the results didn’t go their way they had a lot to say and picked up a lot of XP in the process. Check out here:

TtpX LAN & ACL Melbourne

Also, that same weekend, Wilson ‘SLCN.StoicWilly’ Mun went through the upper bracket unscathed at the TtpX LAN tournament at MC internet. He defeated Daniel ‘Nv.Deth’ Haynes on the way to the final who also turned out to be his final opponent coming through the lower bracket.

Wilson took game one in what proved to be an epic TvT finals series with Daniel. But experience paid off in the end as Deth took the next two matches to send it into a second best of three series. Stoic unfortunately had no answer to Deth’s mech play and went down 0-2 and finished second to Deth for the tournament. Nevertheless, a great result for Stoic and Team Silicon Sports. Well done Willy!

We have also just announced the very first inductees to the SLCN Academy. You can check out who they are in our announcement post. They are all very committed players and some of them will also be seen at this month’s ACL Melbourne tournament.

Speaking of ACL Melbourne, the groups have been announced and all four Team Silicon Sports players are in and seeded. Petrify is in group A with Petraeus & Megafonzie. Pezz and StoicWilly are in group B with iaguz and Kez is in group C with KingKong, Fenner and SLCN Academy player, Arze. It should be a great tournament this coming weekend and the SLCN team will be looking to flex their muscle on their home turf.

BarCraft & Pubstomp

This weekend is a huge one for eSports. The International 3 for Dota 2 is on all weekend, whilst the WCS Finals for Korea and America are also on and ACL Melbourne is running out in Bundoora. As such we will be hosting BarCraft Melbourne for WCS Korea. This will be our 15th BarCraft Melbourne, so I hope you can make it down to Paloma Bar for a great night of eSports action.

We are also running a giveaway for a signed Heart of the Swarm Collector’s Edition which will be drawn at BarCraft Melbourne as well. So if you haven’t entered, head over to our Facebook page for details, get liking and sharing for your chance to win!

We also have our TI3 ‘Best of’ event the following weekend which should be a lot of fun. So if you want to relive the awesomeness of the biggest DOTA 2 tournament in the world come and join us at Paloma Bar on August 17th. Details on our Pubstomp Melbourne page.

Melbourne also was witness to the very first PAX event outside of America. By all accounts it was a great success and we can’t wait for the event in 2014. Glenn and I scoped out quite a lot over Saturday and Sunday and have a few ideas to push eSports into the mainstream in Australia. So keep an eye out for details on that later. We also met and made a lot of friends over the weekend as well. The impromptu afterpartys at Paloma Bar on Saturday and Sunday were an absolute blast – pity I had to go to work on Monday though.

Check out our photos from PAX Aus.

Other News

In other news, I recently became a father and very proud of my daughter Isla. She was born on July 4th, weighing 3.020 kg and perfect in every way (yes, I am biased!). She is doing fantastically well and will soon be sent off to Korea for StarCraft 2 training. I joke, I joke! My wife has already told me she is not to play video games for some time, but I have snuck her in to the man cave to watch the WCS already!

See you at BarCraft & ACL!
